What is There to Do in Missouri When Visiting For the World Cup?

Kansas City, Missouri, is set to play a major role during the upcoming FIFA World Cup. Soccer fans traveling to the Midwest will have the chance to watch multiple high-profile matches in a city known for its sports culture and easy accessibility. Whether you plan to attend one game or several, Kansas City offers a clear schedule of World Cup action worth planning around.

As many fans combine match travel with regional getaways, it’s common to see visitors pairing Kansas City games with time at the Lake of the Ozarks, making the area a natural extension of a Midwest soccer trip.

Why Kansas City Was Selected as a World Cup Host City

Kansas City earned its spot as a host city thanks to a strong sports infrastructure and a proven track record of handling major international events. Arrowhead Stadium offers large seating capacity, modern upgrades, and reliable transportation access.

Other factors that helped Kansas City stand out include:

  • A central U.S. location that reduces travel strain
  • Strong fan attendance for international soccer matches
  • Established partnerships with FIFA and U.S. Soccer

The city’s experience hosting global crowds made it a practical choice for World Cup matches.

Matches and Events Fans Can Expect

Group Stage Matches

Kansas City will host several group stage matches during the opening phase of the World Cup. These games feature national teams competing to advance, which often creates high-energy crowds and unpredictable outcomes.

Group stage matches are appealing because:

  1. Fans can see multiple teams in a short visit
  2. Match tickets are often easier to secure than later rounds
  3. Game times are spread across several days

For travelers extending their stay beyond match days, many explore things to do in Lake of the Ozarks, balancing soccer with lake time, boating, and outdoor recreation.

Knockout Round Matches

In addition to early games, Kansas City is scheduled to host knockout round matches. These games carry higher stakes, as each match determines who advances and who goes home.

Knockout matches typically bring:

  • Larger international crowds
  • Increased media coverage
  • Higher-intensity play

Because these games attract fans from across the country, accommodations fill quickly both in Kansas City and nearby destinations. Many visitors look beyond the metro area for more space and flexibility, including vacation rentals in Lake of the Ozarks.

Planning a Trip Around World Cup Matches

Planning ahead is key when attending World Cup matches. Match dates, transportation, and lodging should all be confirmed early.

Helpful planning tips include:

  • Booking match tickets as soon as they are released
  • Allowing extra travel time on game days
  • Scheduling rest days between matches

Fans often structure trips with a few days in Kansas City, followed by time unwinding near the water. The region offers a change of pace, with options for boating, golf, and relaxed evenings focused on dining at the Lake of the Ozarks.

How Do You Choose the Right Vacation Rental at Lake of the Ozarks?

Planning a lake getaway is exciting, but choosing the right place to stay can feel overwhelming. With so many options, knowing what matters most will help you book with confidence.

From group size to location and timing, this guide walks you through how to choose the right vacation rental at Lake of the Ozarks so your trip starts on the right foot.

Things to Consider Before Booking

Group Size and Type of Stay

Start by thinking about who is traveling with you. A couple’s weekend looks very different from a multi-family summer trip.

Ask yourself:

  • How many bedrooms and bathrooms do you need?
  • Are you traveling with kids, grandparents, or friends?
  • Will you need extra space for gathering indoors?

Matching the size and layout of the home to your group helps everyone stay comfortable throughout the trip.

Location and Proximity to Attractions

Location plays a big role in your experience. Some guests prefer calm coves, while others want quicker access to dining, marinas, and shopping.

Also consider how close you want to be to popular things to do in Lake of the Ozarks, such as boating, golfing, state parks, or family attractions. Shorter drive or boat times often mean more time enjoying your vacation.

Comparing Different Property Types

Condos vs. Houses

Both condos and houses offer great stays, but they serve different needs.

Condos often include:

  • Community pools
  • Fitness centers
  • Easy maintenance
  • Central locations

Houses typically offer:

  • More privacy
  • Larger living spaces
  • Private docks
  • Yards for kids to play

When comparing vacation rentals in Lake of the Ozarks, think about how much space and privacy matter to your group.

Pet-Friendly and Family-Friendly Options

If you are bringing pets or young children, details matter. Look for rentals that clearly state their pet policies and family features.

Helpful amenities include:

  • Gated decks
  • Pack-and-play options
  • Nearby calm water areas
  • Easy parking and entry

Clear rules and thoughtful amenities help everyone enjoy the stay, including four-legged family members.

Booking Tips from the Experts

When to Book for Best Availability

The best properties book early, especially for summer and holiday weekends. Booking several months ahead gives you more choices and better dates.

For quieter seasons, such as spring or fall, you may find more flexibility and value while still enjoying the lake.

Questions to Ask Before Reserving

Before you book, make sure you understand the details. A few smart questions can prevent surprises.

Ask about:

  • Dock size and water depth
  • Boat ramp access
  • Parking limits
  • Cleaning and cancellation policies

Clear communication is key when selecting Lake of the Ozarks lodging that truly fits your needs.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the right vacation rental comes down to planning ahead and knowing your priorities. Think about group size, location, property type, and timing. When these pieces align, your trip feels easier and more enjoyable.

When you are ready to book, working with a local team makes all the difference. We encourage you to book your Lake of the Ozarks lodging with Your Lake Vacation for personalized service and local expertise you can trust.

7 Benefits of Staying with Your Lake Vacation

When planning your trip to the Lake of the Ozarks, you’ll find there are plenty of places to stay in Osage Beach and the surrounding areas. How do you choose between a hotel and a vacation rental? What are the benefits of renting from a property manager versus an individual owner? Why should you choose us? Keep reading to learn about the benefits of staying with Your Lake Vacation during your next trip to the Lake!

1. 24-Hour Emergency Number

Typically, one of the largest concerns with vacation rentals versus hotels is that there’s not a 24-hour front desk that you can go to for assistance. Wash those worries away! Because when you stay with Your Lake Vacation, you’ll be provided with a 24-hour emergency number. Should anything major happen while our office is closed, you can call that number for assistance.

2. Towels and Linens are Provided

Another of the benefits of staying with Your Lake Vacation is that you’re provided with all the bedding needed from sheets and pillowcases to pillows and blankets. We also provide bath towels, hand towels and washcloths. You do not need to bring any of those items with you. The only thing we ask you to bring is beach towels for use at the pool or on the lake.

3. Keyless Entry

No need to come to an office to check-in and pick up keys, and then keep track of those keys for the duration of your stay. All of our Lake of the Ozarks vacation rentals have keyless entry. You can arrive anytime after our standard check-in time, and you don’t have to worry about running late. You will be given a 4-digit keycode so that you can let yourself into the home whenever you arrive.

4. Digital Contracts

All of our paperwork is done digitally! You don’t have to wait for information to arrive in the mail, and you don’t have to worry about sending anything back via snail mail. Once you book your reservation with us, you’ll receive your reservation details via email and you will also be sent the contract via DocuSign, for you to sign electronically. It’s as simple as opening the email and clicking a few buttons, and you’re done!

5. Homes and Condos vs Hotel Rooms

When you stay with us, you get all the benefits of a private home or condo including full kitchens, outdoor spaces/decks, and gathering places for larger groups. If you’re worried about giving up the amenities typically found at a hotel, don’t be! Many of our condo complexes offer outdoor pools, as well as other amenities such as lake access, lake swimming, playground, tennis courts, etc.

6. Stay Right on the Water

The majority of our vacation rentals in Osage Beach and surrounding areas are waterfront or have a view of the water! In fact, many of the condos we manage have boat ramps and trailer parking on site. Accessing the water could not be easier! If you have a specific area of the Lake you’d like to stay on, let us know and we can find properties that match your desired mile marker location.

A New Year’s Resolution: To Travel More

A new year is upon us! It’s the time of year where everyone is thinking about and discussing their new year’s resolutions. One resolution we think you should consider: to travel more! Taking vacations, whether just a quick weekend getaway or a week long stay, offers a variety of benefits. Keep reading to learn why we think you should travel more in 2023.

New Year’s Resolutions

A New Year’s resolution is a common tradition in which a person resolves to continue good practices, change an undesired trait or behavior, accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their behavior at the beginning of a calendar year. Common resolutions typically revolve around being healthier, losing weight, getting organized or learning something new.

Unfortunately, more than half of all New Year’s resolutions fail. The reasons: it’s created based on what society is telling you to change, it’s too vague or you don’t have a realistic plan for achieving it. The key is to set a goal that’s not only meaningful to you, but also attainable. Be specific and make sure you can measure it’s success. For example, instead of just saying, “I want to travel more,” set a goal to plan two trips for the year. You can make one a week long vacation and the other a weekend getaway.

Benefits of Travel

While you might decide to add travel to your list of resolutions because it’s fun, there are so many other benefits you might not have even thought of. Travel can help you with other resolutions as well, such as avoiding work burnout, reducing stress and bringing more joy to your life.

According to studies, spending money on “doing something” leaves you with a longer sense of happiness than spending it on a “material purchase.” Along with happiness, travel is one of the best things you can do for your mental health. It offers you a break from the day to day grind, and lets you disconnect and recharge. Everyone deserves a break once in a while, and it can help prevent issues such as chronic stress, burnout, depression, anxiety, etc.

Planning Your Vacation

A common concern with adding travel plans to new year’s resolutions is that you just don’t have the time. Whether you have a bunch of saved up PTO or not, everyone can travel. You don’t have to plan some big extravagant trip. If you can’t take a week off from work, not a problem. How much of your own backyard have you not explored? Day trips still count! Weekend getaways are great! No matter where you live, you’re sure to find something new to experience within a few hours’ drive. Make travel a priority this year, as your health and wellbeing might depend on it!
